How to shop the sales

There are some decent summer sales on at the moment with final reductions of up to 70% at the likes of REISS, Topman, BoohooMAN and  with my favourite designers stores END. and Aphrodite1994.

Now I love a sale as much as the next man but as I’m sure you’ve all found, shopping in the sales can be tricky; there is so much to choose from, everyone is in sale, the reductions seem amazing and if you’re not careful you can end up spending a lot of money on things you didn’t really want. So here are a few tips on how to shop the sales sensibly…

Only buy what you wanted before the sale.

It’s always dangerous to make snap decisions during the sales and buy something just because the reduction seems really good. Think about whether you would have bought it if it wasn’t in sale? If the answer is no, then it’s probably not a good idea to buy it at all. If you’ve had your eye on a few things when the sales hit, search them out and see if they’re reduced. It’s better to get a reduction on something you wanted than spend money on something you didn’t.

Get the right size.

If there is something in the sale that you really want but they don’t have your size it can be tempting to get it anyway but in a slightly smaller or bigger size. There can’t be that much different between S and M right? Wrong. If they don’t have your size, don’t bother. It’s frustrating but more often than not you’ll end up with something that doesn’t quite fit properly and you won’t wear it. So you’ve ended up wasting money when you thought you were saving it.

Don’t be afraid to send something back.

The great thing about shopping today, especially online, is that any shop worth their salt will have a really good returns policy. If you’ve bought a few things in the sale and you’re not 100% on them, when they arrive and you’re not convinced, just send them back, no matter how cheap they were. Again, if you’re not going to wear them there is no point wasting money just because you thought you were saving it.

Happy hunting!
