Berlin is one of my favourite cities in the world and in a couple of weeks time I will be heading their for a 3rd time, so I thought I would share the Berlin wardrobe I had in mind. The previous two visit have revolved largely around partying and uncovering its incredible nightlife, with a bit of culture thrown in. This trip will be no different, except there is the slight difference in that we are heading there for the two day Lollapalooza festival in Treptower Park. So when it comes to packing my new Fred Perry holdall (birthday present) the weekend offers certain challenges.
We land Friday night and will be heading down to Watergate (one of the most incredible clubs in Berlin) to hook up with a friend of mine and see one of my favourite Techno DJs – Oliver Huntemann. He is going B2B with long time collaborator and Sci-Tec legend Dubfire. The fact that this night has happens to fall on the same weekend is just a dream come true. So I am going to need to pack some clubbing attire as well as festival wear… no mean feat.
Having never been to Berlin in the summer I had no idea what to expect from the weather in early September but looking at the 15 day forecast we are in for sunshine and highs of 22 degrees. Not too shabby. So there’ll be no need for knits and heavy coats. In true Berlin fashion (pun intended) I am thinking of keeping it fairly simple and minimal as well as embracing the Berghain black. Black isn’t a colour I ever really wear, so this seemed like a good opportunity to try something different. Of course if you are looking to get into Berghain or even some of Berlin’s more extreme underground clubs you might need to take a little look at some of the gear on the likes of somewhere like Lovehoney! If you catch my drift. Although I am sure an artsy vibe and plenty of black will do the trick.
T-Shirts & Tops
Keep it simple with one of my signature plain white T-Shirts, like this from Reiss… or for something a bit more cavalier and very much in keeping with the hedonism of Berlin something form the wonderful Wasted Heroes…
Continuing to embrace the black I feel like a hoodie might be a good idea, just in case the temperature does drop a bit across the weekend and also for what is likely to be a pretty hungover journey home. On a low budget I’d probably go for something like this ASOS Longline Oversized Hoodie With Funnel Hood (left)… or with money to burn maybe this Diesel S-Pilot Hood with the interesting detail of Zipthru Sweat Mesh Sleeves (right)…

Jackets & Jeans
For jackets just in case we do end up getting a bit of rain or it does end up getting pretty chilly, if I had money to burn I would love this Stone Island Shadow Project Leather Hooded Short Parka – my God it doesn’t have feel “Berlin”…
Unfortunately it would set me back more than the weekend itself, so I might have to settle for something like this Threadbare Hooded Lightweight Jacket which is currently reduced from £70 to £26.50 on ASOS!
Jeans wise, a pretty basic pair of black slim fit or skinny jeans would do for me I think, ASOS and Topman both had good options.
Boots
I never wear boots but considering I am embracing the black stuff (not just Guinness) and it is a festival which means my latest pair of adidas probably won’t cope well, I thought I’d try a nice, not too clumpy, pair of black zip up boots, these from ASOS are perfect…
Bag
I mentioned my Fred Perry Holdall, I was lucky enough to get a lovely traditional blue and white barrel bag for my birthday, but perhaps for this trip this one might have been more appropriate…
