Autumn is here, which means an opportunity to think about some new wardrobe additions. Overcoats, jackets, jumpers, cardigans… all those wonderful things. And this Autumn I am also in the market for a new pair of brogues.
I’ve been getting away with one good pair and a couple that are on their way out so I’m after a good solid brown brogue, and then maybe another pair that are a bit different. So I’ve taken a look at what’s out there, for various budgets…
Under £50
There’s no denying that these classic brown brogues from BoohooMAN are incredible value at only £20, but I would have some concerns about the quality at that price…
But then again the same could be said of these lighter brown brogues from ASOS at £25 … at that price, maybe they are worth a go!

Under £100
For under £100 I like the look of these ALDO Derrade Leather brogues at ASOS…
I’m also a big fan of Goodwin Smith. They do things a bit differently as a brand and aren’t afraid to stand out from the more traditional and old school shoe makers. Regardless of all that, they all make very good shoes, and I like these chunky Oxfords The Chatsworth Tan…
Under £250
If you have a bit more money to play with then you are in business when it comes to decent footwear. For under £250 I like these Gilbert High Shine from Paul Smith for £195…
Or another option would be these Grenson Stanley Brogues available at ASOS for £230…
Under £500
If you want to go really top end then an traditional old shoe maker like Robinson’s from Northern Ireland are a good place to start. As well as making their own, they also stock several traditional and quality brands like Loake and Barker.
