Back in the summer of 2018 I was first introduce to the Lacombe as it featured in the Spezial release. I absolutely fell in love with as a trainer.
Like many of the Spezial silhouettes, it has now been released again in a variety of versions. Although that has meant the Spezial release has lost a little bit of it’s magic, I’m not too disappointed as it’s meant I have been able to invest in another two or three and wear my original pair less.
These are one of the secondary pairs I have plumped for…
They are starting to release some other colourways, but personally I can’t stand them – the Lacombe have to be white.

The Lacombe Spezial – Summer 2018
Now the dust has settled on the latest adidas Originals Spezial drop (Spring / Summer ’18) I thought I would select something from the footwear selection for my trainer of the week this week. adidas SPEZIAL and Gary Aspden return for its fourth year with a SS18 collection inspired by the Acid House scenes in Ibiza in the late 80s. This latest effort is a nostalgic, tangible throwback to euphoric summer seasons spent on the white isle back in ’88 and ’89 and you can certainly see that come through in the collection. It’s probably why I feel like I could have bought just about everything from it!
It’s easy to get sucked into the hype of the SPZL drops and talk yourself into wanting just about everything, but having reflected on the releases I think one of my favourites is definitely the Lacombe . I have been on the lookout for a classic white trainer and I’m probably going to plump for some Stan Smiths as I’ve never had them in my collection and they feel like a staple. But I think I’m going to get hold of a pair of Lacombe’s first as they will do the job just as well, if not better. A classic white leather silhouette, with lovely gold detailing these could be worn with anything. The Lacombe SPZL features a soft leather upper, a Spezial print to the sock liner, a soft leather lining, white laces and Adidas branding at the sidewalls and tongue to finish up. You can still get hold of them at The Hip Store and END.
